Tottenham Qualify for Semi-Finals

Tottenham FC Women booked their place in the semi-finals of the Womens FA Cup after defeating Manchester City WFC in a dramatic penalty shootout on Thursday, March 10, 2024.

The match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ended 1-1 after extra time, with Tottenham's Rachel Williams canceling out Khadija Shaw's opener for Manchester City. In the shootout, Spurs goalkeeper Rebecca Spencer saved two spot-kicks, securing the victory for her team.

Tottenham will now face either Brighton & Hove Albion or Birmingham City in the semi-finals, which will be played on April 23, 2024. This is the first time Tottenham's women's team has reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup since 2013.

Tottenham manager Rehanne Skinner praised her team's resilience and determination after the match. "We showed great character to come back from behind and win the game. We never gave up and believed in ourselves. We're delighted to be in the semi-finals and we're looking forward to the challenge of facing either Brighton or Birmingham."

Manchester City manager Gareth Taylor was disappointed with the result but praised his team's effort. "We're gutted to lose on penalties, but we gave it our all. Tottenham played well and deserved the win. We'll learn from this experience and come back stronger next season."

The victory is a major boost for Tottenham's hopes of winning their first major trophy. The team is currently third in the Women's Super League and will be hoping to continue their good form in the remaining matches of the season.
