Cristiano Ronaldos International Future In The Balance

Cristiano Ronaldo’s International Future in the Balance

Portugal Legend Still Going Strong

Cristiano Ronaldo has made it clear that he has no plans to retire from international football with Portugal. The 37-year-old forward is his country’s all-time leading scorer with 118 goals in 191 appearances. He has also helped Portugal win the European Championship in 2016 and the UEFA Nations League in 2019.

Ronaldo’s comments come after Portugal’s disappointing exit from the 2022 World Cup. The team was eliminated in the quarter-finals by Morocco, and Ronaldo was visibly upset after the match. However, he has since said that he is “motivated” to continue playing for Portugal.

Ronaldo’s Future Uncertain

Despite Ronaldo’s desire to continue playing for Portugal, it is unclear whether he will be selected for the team in the future. New Portugal coach Roberto Martinez has not yet announced his squad for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers, and it is possible that Ronaldo could be left out.

Ronaldo is now 37 years old, and he is no longer the player he once was. He is still a dangerous goalscorer, but he is not as quick or agile as he used to be. It is possible that Martinez will decide to build his team around younger players.

Portugal Should Move On

Even if Ronaldo is still a good player, it is time for Portugal to move on. The team has a number of talented young players, and it is time for them to take over the reins. Ronaldo has had a great career, but it is time for him to step aside and let the next generation of players take center stage.
